Pearson Vue NCLEX Phone Number

Written and reviewed by Dana Whitfield, RN, MSN · 5 min read · Updated September 2026

Short answer

Pearson VUE publishes its NCLEX Candidate Services phone numbers on the NCLEX section of pearsonvue.com and in the current NCLEX Candidate Bulletin, and the number you call depends on the country you are calling from. Pearson VUE handles registration, scheduling, rescheduling and test-centre matters only. Questions about eligibility, your Authorization to Test or your licence go to your nursing regulatory body.

The short answer

There is no single Pearson VUE NCLEX phone number. Pearson VUE runs the NCLEX on behalf of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing and staffs separate candidate services lines for the United States and Canada and for international callers, each with its own hours. The current numbers are printed in the NCLEX Candidate Bulletin, on the contact page of the NCLEX section of the Pearson VUE website, and at the foot of the confirmation email you receive when you schedule an appointment.

Take the number from one of those three sources, not from a forum or a review company's page, because numbers and hours change and an out-of-date one costs you a day. Many candidates never need to call at all. Registration, payment, viewing your Authorization to Test, scheduling and rescheduling are all done in your Pearson VUE NCLEX account online, at any hour, and the online route usually resolves faster than the queue.

The detail behind it

Which line you call turns on two things: where you are and what you need. Callers in the United States and Canada use the toll-free candidate services number and its published hours, which are set in a US time zone. Candidates outside North America, including those testing at international sites, use the regional number for their part of the world, and the hours differ. Test-centre staff on the day are a third contact entirely; their job is check-in, identification and the testing room, not your registration.

The second variable matters more than the first. Pearson VUE can help with a registration you cannot complete, a payment that failed, an appointment you need to move, an accommodation that was approved but not applied, or a problem at a test centre. It cannot make you eligible, tell you why your Authorization to Test has not arrived, extend that authorization, or release your result. Those belong to your board of nursing or regulatory body, which declares your eligibility to Pearson VUE in the first place. Quick results, where your jurisdiction offers them, are an online service purchased through your Pearson VUE account after the waiting period rather than something anyone on the phone will read to you.

What this means for your study plan

The people who end up on hold are usually the ones who left scheduling late. Your Authorization to Test is valid for a fixed window set by your regulatory body, commonly around 90 days, and it cannot be extended. Book your appointment as soon as the authorization arrives, choosing a date that matches when your practice scores are likely to be stable, rather than waiting until you feel ready and finding no seats within the window.

Rescheduling is done online in your account, and the Candidate Bulletin sets a cut-off, expressed as a minimum number of hours before your appointment, after which the fee is forfeited and you must pay again. Know that deadline the day you book. If your study plan is running behind, decide to move the appointment before the cut-off, not after. A phone call after the deadline will not recover the fee.

Build the administrative dates into the same planner as your question blocks: the day the authorization arrived, the day it expires, the exam date, the reschedule cut-off, and the earliest date a retake could be sat, which is a minimum of 45 days after a failed attempt in every jurisdiction. Then the only calls you make are the ones you cannot avoid.

Why can I not reach anyone? Hours are set in a US time zone, and lines are busiest at the start of the working day and immediately after new authorizations are released. Try the online account first; most scheduling problems are solved there. If you must call, have your candidate identification number, your Authorization to Test and the exact error message ready, because that is what the agent will ask for.

What if the test centre closes or my appointment is cancelled? Pearson VUE contacts affected candidates and reschedules without charge in those circumstances; check your account and the email you registered with before calling. What if my name on the authorization does not match my identification? That is the single most common reason a candidate is turned away on the day, and it has to be corrected through your regulatory body, not through Pearson VUE. Sort it well before the exam. What if I need testing accommodations? Those are requested through and approved by your regulatory body first; Pearson VUE then applies them when you schedule, which is one case where calling rather than booking online is expected.

The next step on this is the same as on everything else here: answer questions and read the rationales. Our fundamentals practice questions are the closest set to what this page covers.

Common questions

Where do I find the Pearson VUE NCLEX phone number?

In the current NCLEX Candidate Bulletin, on the contact page of the NCLEX section of the Pearson VUE website, and in your scheduling confirmation email. Use the number for your region, and check the hours, which are set in a US time zone for the North American line.

Can Pearson VUE tell me my NCLEX result?

No. Official results come from your nursing regulatory body. Some jurisdictions allow you to buy an unofficial quick result through your Pearson VUE account after a waiting period, but that is an online service. Nobody on the phone line can read you a result.

Can Pearson VUE extend my Authorization to Test?

No. The validity window is set by your regulatory body and cannot be extended by anyone. If it expires unused, you must re-register and pay the exam fee again. Schedule as soon as the authorization arrives to avoid this.

Do I need to call to reschedule my NCLEX?

Usually not. Rescheduling is done in your Pearson VUE NCLEX account, provided you are before the cut-off stated in the Candidate Bulletin. Call only if the account will not let you change the appointment or if you have approved accommodations that must be applied.
