NCLEX test-day checklist

Short answer
Bring one acceptable form of government-issued photo ID whose name matches your Authorization to Test exactly, and arrive 30 minutes early. Everything else is stored in a locker. Candidates who are turned away on test day are almost always turned away for a name mismatch or a late arrival, not for anything academic.
The night before
Stop studying. Confirm the test centre address and how long the journey takes at that time of day. Sleep is the only remaining variable you control that still affects your score.
What to bring
Your Authorization to Test, and one valid government-issued photo ID with a signature, where first and last name match the ATT exactly. If you have married or changed your name, resolve the mismatch before test day, not at the desk.
During the exam
You get scheduled breaks; take the first one even if you feel fine, because the fatigue arrives later than you expect. If the exam feels impossibly hard, that is the adaptive engine working correctly — it is not information about whether you are passing.

Prioritization items are airway, breathing, circulation, in that order — the ranking survives every rewording. Audible gurgling around a fresh tracheostomy is a partially obstructed airway and it is the only option that can kill the client in the next few minutes. Fever, post-op pain, and a glucose of 232 are all real problems that need the nurse, just not first.

What do I need to bring to the NCLEX?
One unexpired government-issued photo ID whose first and last name match your Authorization to Test exactly. Nothing else is permitted in the testing room.
What happens if my ID name doesn't match my ATT?
You will be turned away and forfeit the exam fee. There is no discretion at the test centre, so any mismatch must be fixed through your board of nursing well before the date.
Can I take breaks during the NCLEX?
Yes, there are optional breaks, but the five-hour clock keeps running through them. A ten-minute break costs ten minutes of exam time.
